We’re thrilled to announce that Governor Hochul signed the bill that will allow Ithaca Carshare to get auto insurance and reopen in early March, 2024.
Many thanks goes out to Senator Lea Webb and Asm. Anna Kelles for their tireless efforts to get this bill passed and signed, to our members who wrote letters, made phone calls, and showed up to make your voices heard, and to the many supporters across the state who took some form of action in support of this bill. We couldn’t have done it without this collective effort!
Our next steps will be to get the fleet ready for reopening in early March. We’ll have an exact date as the time gets closer. Please keep an eye out for any special announcements and ways you can continue to support us during this pause.
We look forward to returning this important service to Ithaca next year, and to seeing nonprofit carshares grow across the state.
