We’re thrilled to announce that Ithaca Carshare is part of a winning grant from NYSERDA to purchase 9 new Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the next two years.
Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) is the main grant holder of the Electric Mobility Challenge, which awarded three New York state municipalities grand prizes of $7 million each to support the transition to clean, safe, and more convenient transportation.
The electric mobility challenge was specifically designed to help transform access to electric mobility options in New York state’s most disadvantaged communities. Ithaca Carshare is currently looking at placement of several of its new EVs to help ensure our more marginalized communities can access and utilize the EVs.
Ithaca Carshare plans to purchase the 9 new EVs over the next two years, enabling us to further our mission of enhancing community access to transportation while reducing the negative environmental and economic impacts of individual automobile ownership.
The NYSERDA grant will also help expand EV bus services throughout the county, and bike sharing in the city of Ithaca through Ithaca Bikeshare.
