CCT envisions a community where travel by shared and active transportation is healthy, safe, affordable, and convenient for all.
Our mission-focused services and programs emphasize social equity and environmental sustainability in this era of new transportation options and emerging mobility trends.
We work with local transportation providers, educators, planners, decision-makers, advocates, and users to fulfill our mission of enhancing transportation access in our community while reducing its negative environmental and economic impacts.
Our History
In January 2006, a carsharing summit brought Ithaca decision makers and citizens together with guests from City CarShare and Boulder CarShare to create a vision for carsharing in Ithaca. The summit was organized by EcoVillage resident Dan Roth, and supported by Cornell and IC.
In the fall of 2006, Ithaca Carshare was incorporated with funding from the NYS Department of Transportation and NYSERDA. The service launched on July 25, 2008 with 6 hatchbacks. It has since grown to 30 vehicles including a truck, two minivans, & two Electric Vehicles (EVs), and has served over 8,000 members.
