The Ithaca Carshare Fleet

We have several Nissan Versas, Honda Fits, Toyota Yarises, Toyota Priuses, and a Toyota Tacoma, Dodge Grand Caravan, and a Scion xB. Our cars are reliable, clean, well-maintained, fuel-efficient, spacious, and ready to go. You'll love them!

The Truck

Our 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck is located at the intersection of North Cayuga and Farm, just north of the creek. This spot is ideal for those who may need to drive to the location since there is free on-street parking around the area. Remember, do not park any other vehicles in an Ithaca Carshare space, or it may be ticketed or towed without notice!

There a solid waste sticker on the window, and behind the seats there is a tarp and bungee cords to secure your load. Information about the solid waste center is inside the glove box or accessible at the Tompkins County Solid Waste website. We have covered the cost of the dump sticker, but you are responsible for any other fees associated with disposing of trash. Remember, it's free to drop off your recycling.

The bed of the truck has a plastic liner, which is durable and easy to clean. If you haul compost, mulch, manure, gravel, garden gnomes etc., please wash or sweep out the bed of the truck before returning it. The next member may be moving furniture, and won't want a messy truck bed.

Always park the truck back in its home location when you are done. Please keep in mind these rules when using the truck:
- Clean the bed if you made it dirty
- No towing or pushing
- No off-roading

The Grand Caravan
You asked and we listened! After growing the fleet with many small fuel-efficient hatchbacks, it was time for a minivan to help those that need to bring along extra passengers or haul boxes in the rain when the truck wouldn't be ideal. This van has seats for 7, while still providing enough room for their stuff in the trunk. Just need space? You can easily flip the back seat over backwards, and fold down the middle row, and voila! You can now load up the van with your things. Just try to keep it clean, and only use the truck for the big dirty loads like hauling wood or mulch. The Grand Caravan will have a dump permit as well.

The xB

We got the xB in response to requests from members for a vehicle with more interior cargo space. It also serves as overflow for the truck and minivan to help those moving. It has 70 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded down (compared to 50 in the Versas and 57 in the Fits). Please remember that though the xB has lots of space, it is not a pickup truck. Please don't use it to haul mulch, gravel, rocks, firewood, etc. While it did have a dump permit sticker before, we have removed that on this vehicle and recommend using the Quest or Tacoma instead.
