Obtaining your foreign driver's record
Applicants who have held a driver's license outside of the 50 United
States within the past 5
years must obtain their own driver's record. Every country has a
different procedure for this, but we recommend contacting the agency
which issued your license. The police department or court in the
issuing country might hold records as well.
Depending on the license issuer, the format of your driving record will
vary. Ithaca Carshare can process any record whether it is mailed,
faxed or sent electronically as long as it contains your name, date of
birth, license number, the date the license was issued, and all details
relating to moving violations, accidents and suspensions. Ithaca Carshare's fax number is 607-793-9578.
Please request your driver's record in English, if possible. We can accept most records in foreign languages - so please contact us if your record will not be in English. Some license issuers will charge a fee to obtain the record which we do not reimburse.
