What businesses and organizations are using Ithaca Carshare?
Small businesses such as Mimi's Attic and Home Green Home find our Just in Case plan perfect to occasionally deliver furniture, or fill in as a back up vehicle if the work van is already out. As downtown businesses, free personal memberships are a great benefit to offer employees as part of a commuter package for staff who don't want to park a car downtown everyday.
Palmer Pharmacy and Positive News Newspaper use our cars regularly for delivery routes, and find It's My Car the best option for routine trips. Pharmacy Technician Shelly Rogers uses the Green Street car daily to deliver prescriptions to private residences, group homes, and offices. The Ithaca League of Women Rollers uses our mini-van to travel to away games.
Cornell University West Campus Housing rotates staff drivers through their It's My Car account each semester, which they can use for errands to pick up program supplies or to transport program participants. The Cornell Center for Materials Research finds our Honda Fit at Central Campus perfect for quick errands and meetings, since it is conveniently parked just outside the door to their building. Our low It's My Car rates for governmental agencies and non-profit agencies are a great deal, and Ithaca Carshare helps the Greater Ithaca Activities Center, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and the Ithaca Tompkins Transportation Councilhave access to back-up vehicles when they need them.
Trowbridge and Wolf Landscape Architects uses the cars for trips to work sites around Tompkins County. “I can easily walk to cars for out-of-town site visits and meetings”, says staff member Noah Demarest. “Since our mileage is reimbursed by our clients, it is essentially a free car service for us.”
The Community Science Institute, a non-profit organization and certified water testing lab, uses the cars to travel and collect baseline water samples across the Southern Tier. "Our clients already reimburse us for mileage so it saves the cost of wear and tear on our employee's vehicles" says lab director Steve Penningroth.
What our business members are saying...
"We use the truck for small pick-up and delivery jobs such as couches or dressers. It has been nice not to have to buy a company vehicle right away, and to have the flexibility to use the appropriate size vehicle for small jobs." - Kelly Moreland, Owner - Mimi's Attic and Mama Goose
"We love the benefit of free individual memberships offered to staff members. Now, if there are personal errands that need to be run or an emergency comes up, our staff knows they have access to Ithaca Carshare. Since our office is downtown, we are never more than a couple of blocks away from a car."
- Teresa Linde, Ithaca Tompkins County Transportation Council
"It's so convenient. I use the Green street car to deliver prescriptions to private residences, as well as several group homes and offices." - Shelly Rogers, Pharmacy Technician, Palmer Pharmacy
